John Frieda Repairing Oil Elixir

John Frieda Repairing Oil Elixir smooths, shines and strengthens. Reverses damage with every use.

Safe for colour-treated and chemically-treated hair.

Directions: For allover strength and smoothness dispense one pump of John Frieda Repairing Oil Elixir into palm, rub hands together and distribute evenly through lengths of wet or damp hair. To tame fly-aways and add shine, apply a few drops to dry hair, taking care and avoid your roots.

Review:

I love this product, especially now in winter when fly-aways are everywhere and most products are applied after you dried your hair with this product you apply it on damp hair and that way you not stuck with an oily finish wasting a just washed hairdo.

The first time I use it, I was completely clueless and didn't realise to brush through my hair after applying the oil, but I still had great results with no flyways, the second time I used the product I combed through my hair and got a better result and my hair felt soft an controlled yet I could easily run my fingers through my hair.

I would rate this product as a must have all year around. For winter who need fly-aways when you trying to pull off a chic look and for summer I love this product for the beach applying it to keep your natural curls in check.

My Super Secret Hair Oil Recipe

This is a family secret, that I am sharing. My advise with this oil treatment or any other oil treatments is that it should never use it if you plan on going out or styling your hair, its best to use it a few hours before a wash.

I love styling my hair, and like most of us most people I end up with dry, damaged hair even after applying a healthy (by healthy I mean not enough, as I hope a little go a long way) amount of heat protection.

My secret to having great hair is to trim my split ends myself NOT CUTTING just trimming individual strands of hair. I also like to do oil treatments. I have tried various oil treatments and this by far is my favourite. I start by applying little each day and the day before I wash my hair I will apply a lot and massage it into my scalp.

The recipe is super easy and anyone can do it. All you need is 3 ingredients.
200ml Coconut oil
20ml  Bergamot oil
3-4 strands fresh Rosemary

In a medium size pot, add the coconut oil and place over a medium heat and as the oil heats up place in the rosemary and let it boil slowly for 20-30 minutes. Take the pot off the stove, then add in the bergamot oil. Let it cool off and throw it trough a strainer into a container.

Tips: When shopping for coconut oil gets the oil that hardens into a white substance.
Keep your oil in a safe place and away from fabrics as it can leave a stain that won't be easily removed.

Henna Review

I love henna. I hardly put on my nails these days, but I grew up putting henna on the regular. When I was fortunate enough to visit Saudi with my parents I stacked up on henna powder. Over the years I've lost interest and recently henna designs have modernized and sparked up a huge interest in the western world.

On instagram I have seen people using waterproof eyeliner to draw on their hands instead of committing to a henna design which does take its time to wash away. It's definitely worth it if you are not willing to make a long term commitment.

I had my henna done 4 days before the event. I had a few worries that it might not last that long, I had to make it last as I paid a decent amount for it and wanted it to last and be dark, the main thing about henna is that it needs to be dark.

My henna was applied around 4pm and by 5pm the henna paste had dried and was flaky the slightest touch and it would fall off. The longer the paste is in contact with the skin the darker the colour. At around half 6pm I made a lemon and sugar mixture and applied it gently using cotton wool, once I was satisfied I use a piece of clean wrap to seal my hands close and to preserve the henna so I that I could move around more freely and sleep with it as well. By this point I was freezing, if you have a water bottle sitting with it to keep your hands warm will help, as warmth plays a key role in henna coming out a darker shade.

At bed time I applied socks over the clean wrap. I actually had a decent night's rest with henna. At around 4am I removed the henna paste with tissue paper, NO WATER. I then applied deep heat to the areas with henna and went back to sleep, I did add the socks back on as certain areas still hah henna paste on and I didn't want to mess my sheets.

When I woke up a little later I then washed my hands with water. The next few days my normal routine had to change as it was crucial as I had to make sure my hands did not come into contact with water often.

1. No washing of hair
2. No washing dishes
3. No exfoliation
4. No bubble baths
When I showered, I kept my hands up so that the water would not run down my hands, and I alternated between deep heat, Vicks VaporRub and baby oil. As each day passed my henna got darker and looked amazing at the function. It may sound extreme, but I just felt like sharing the tips and tricks, and keeping your henna darker for longer.

That blue dress

It has been a while and I have no excuses as to where I've been lately except for the fact that I am currently obsessed with a Korean  reality show called " The Return of the Superman" I would love to go into detail about it but this is a look post not a catch up post which I will be doing soon.

Weddings are always fun and exciting till you realize you can find a dress that is perfect for you. I once read on a friends post. There will always be a better dress out there, but you need to stop at some point and realize that this your dress.

I started dress shopping at the plaza. I found a few dresses that caught my eye the problems arise when the dresses were all sleeveless and the store didn't have inner tops to match the dress, I decided not to buy it as I didn't need the drama of running around town looking for a top that matched my dress perfectly.

I turned to a more a popular chain store after that failed attempt at the plaza. I found a dress that I fell in love with. I tried on the size 8 but preferred a size 10 since I like being comfortable, I was thinking long term and saw the dress as an investment piece. The store didn't have my size and their systems were down so the sales lady took down my details to send me the info of which store had my size the next day. Needless to say I'm still waiting for the store to get back to me. Needless to say I'm still waiting for the store to get back to me.
After much heartache and 3 weeks to the wedding, my dad told me about a lady on Facebook selling Eastern wear and she has great reviews from previous clients. I stalked her online profile for hours before finding a dress I loved or would consider wearing. To my excitement I emailed her immediately. I ordered the dress knowing full well that the dress is open on the sides. The dress was very difficult to shape and I decided on a Grecian look or I attempted to and let's just say I have been educated and will turn to education in design next time and not buy ready made.

Summer Lookbook

I can't believe Summer is over! I feel awkward now, I always find autumn so difficult to style my wardrobe around because my summer clothes are not warm enough to wear and my winter clothes are not a good fit either. All of that being said I thought I should recap on my summer outfits, therefore this is my Summer Look Book.

A white dress is a key wardrobe piece for summer

The best part about summer is the long walks

Where have I been?

So I have been very quiet lately on the blog and nope, I don't have a good reason, just like most people I struggle to stick with things. I usually know exactly what to say and when to say it, but lately I find myself at a block and I figured it would pass soon don't a day turned into a week and before I knew it I couldn't remember when last I blogged.

I felt like sharing an update and hopefully do a few follow up with outfit post, but for now here are some pics I enjoy looking at the moment. I have a deep passion for photography I would love to save for a decent camera, but my wardrobe always convinces me to spend my money I'm saving and I feel I take pretty decent photos with my iPad and Samsung S4mini.

Goodbye Summer

"Hello March" is what I experienced on most social media platforms this pass weekend. I don't want to see summer go because winter brings out the inner ugly in me. By winter brining out the ugly in me, I mean, I will wear almost anything and leave the house to stay warm, on  a lighter note good things always come my way in the autumn/winter seasons. We moved into a new house in mid winter, that was a crazy adjustment as we went from a family of 5 sharing one bathroom for a family of 5 in a house with tiles flooring throughout and an icy chill you just couldn't get rid of. Second great thing to always happen to me is I always seem to find employment in the cold, which sucks because I usually leave the jobs towards the warmer months.

I am excited to bid farewell to summer 2014 and embrace autumn 2015 and hope that it will bring  exceptional new clothes for my closet and more adventures.

Outfit Post:
This isn't really a look post, I initially planned this outfit to be my birthday post, but after I stepped out to take the photos a cloud burst and came down the gentle rain drops so the lighting is bad but I feel it set the mood. Enjoy!
