Glossary to a girls world! Handbags.

What is a handbag?

A small bag used by a woman to carry everyday personal items.
That is the answer I was provided by Google, I could not agree more.
For as a long I can remember playing dress up meant having a handbag/purse to complete the look. As most of us grew up, our love for bags only grew stronger.

When I found out that in certain countries, it actually allows you to take out a loan to buy a designer bag I was ready to say so long South Africa and make a home in a new foreign country that understood what it meant to be a woman, longing for that touch of the expensive leather in her hands while others stare with envy. A Handbag to a whole women is a car to a man!

The basic handbag has come a long way, and this post is all about educating you on each and every handbag design out there and of course a tip on what when and how to pull it off fashionably..

The Back Pack

This is the bag we all started out with. I remember mine always been heavy and sometimes not having a pleasant odour, as I would forget to take out old lunch and sometimes getting caught in the rain and leaving the damp bag in the corner till the next day of school. But what is a BackPack in the fashion world?

It is a sack with two straps, usually to be cool only one strap is worn on the shoulder, it's worn on your shoulders and rests on your back, but it is not just any sack its the sack that will separate  you from the rest. I've seen a comeback of the backpack since the 90's inspired fashion has popped up. The best way to wear a backpack and be on trend would definitely be a jumper/overall and a pair of sneakers.

The Baguette

A baguette is one of the handbag you would of found on a 90's girl. I remember as a kid, I had one, its shape was long in length and small in height with a average length handle. I would go everywhere with it, it was my way of telling the world I had s**t and I was fancy. I don't really encourage this purse as sometimes it can't carry your cell phone or wallet but the best way to wear this bag is playtime as princesses or evening wear.

The Bowler

I love this shape bag and recently purchased one from Soviet in the colour Tan. My 1st encounter with this shape bag was in Woolworths, it was pink and I just saw my whole life coming together as I strolled down the aisles to ask my mother if I can have it, after tons and tons of begging she still stuck to her 1st answer which was no. To me it’s the bag that got away. I feel this bag just gives class. Its vibe is hey I'm a preppy girl who's playful.
The name alone gives away the origin of the bag as it was originally designed to hold bowling balls. Best Way to wear a Bowler actually anything from sporty casual to smart formal I just would avoid wearing it on outings where you would have to carry it around for hours and it’s not that comfortable to wear on the shoulders.

The Bucket

I actually won this shape of a handbag at a Lady bloggers event. It's amazing on space. If you have a lot of things that you need with you all the time this is the bag for you, my advice would be to get separate clear bags to store your things within your bag because you could spend hours looks for something.

A Bucket bag is shaped like an oval with a square bottom and usually had long straps to wear comfortably on your shoulders and a lot of them are open on the top which I am not a fan of.
Best way to wear this bag: if you are a student or a mom this bag is ideal for you. I do recommend getting it in a solid colour so it can go with everything and preferably a dark shade.

Hello Winter

I meant to do this post on the 1st of the month, but I guess the 25th will do just as well...

Many people love winter Fashion but hate the cold. I recently found myself hating both, as I headed out on one of the coldest night yet all dressed up and accompanying me was the flu  I found myself more annoyed than ever as I had so many layers on yet I felt cold and as anyone is irritable from being sick it struck me that there are a few things I love about winter.

1. The long hot showers
2. The fact that I can plaster myself in my beautiful scented creams without breaking out into a sweat from my body butter.
3. The food. I clearly am not working on my summer body as I can't seem to get enough of the kitchen. I'm no chef but I do find myself looking up recipes and playing armature master chef in the kitchen since the heat has left.

One thing I can't stand is that winter brings a lot of dryness, my lips are cracked, my hair looks almost like doll hair (not a brats or a Barbie doll, nope, more like a cheap doll you get in a lucky packet.) and my skin has moments too but thankfully I have found solutions.

1. To avoid dry skin I use a body oil right after my shower, before drying myself I take a few drops of oil and rub it all over especially in the areas I find to be more dry.

2. For my cracked lips I've found lip butter from Revlon I am using 047 Pink Lemonade

3. The best solution for my hair I've found is to go longer periods between washes and regular oil treatments.

Almost one month of winter down only 2 more to go!

Calvin Klein, Inc., yesterday announced that Calvin Klein Jeans will host a dynamic music event in Hong Kong on Thursday, June 11th.

The invitation-only event will feature soon-to-be announced musical performances – as well as a special appearance by global superstar and 30-time platinum-selling phenom Justin Bieber. Bieber, who stars alongside Dutch supermodel Lara Stone in the global Spring 2015 Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear advertising campaigns, is planned to appear as a guest of Calvin Klein.

The event will be held at the massive Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a repurposed industrial cargo hall with panoramic views of the Hong Kong skyline, located in the heart of Victoria Harbour overlooking Kowloon Bay.

Fans who are unable to attend will be able to experience the event around the world, via imagery and content posted to calvinklein.com as well as the brand’s official, global social media channels, where they will get behind-the-scenes access leading up to the much-anticipated event, as well as during the evening by following the dedicated hashtag, #calvinkleinlive.

The Calvin Klein Jeans brand has a long-standing connection to music and has hosted music events in other cities around the world including Sao Paulo, Beijing, London, Berlin, Paris, and Mexico City, among others, but this event marks the first time the brand has held a music event of this scale in Hong Kong. Calvin Klein has previously hosted musical acts such as Pharrell Williams, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Jessie Ware, Iggy Azalea, Far East Movement, The Drums, and HAIM, among others.

Calvin Klein’s ongoing connection to music began with one of the brand’s earliest and most iconic campaigns which memorably featured Mark “Marky-Mark” Wahlberg alongside model Kate Moss. Over the years, the house has continued its association with music and pop culture, dressing and supporting a range of musicians around the world. This past year alone, those artists included talent such as Taylor Swift, Drake, Sam Smith, Kanye West, Harry Styles, Ciara, Usher, Future, Rita Ora, Trey Songz, Ne-Yo, Iggy Azalea, Fergie, Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, Common, Solange Knowles, Big Sean, and Tinie Tempah, among others.

Musician, dancer, actor and singer-songwriter, Bieber – who was recently ranked by Twitter as the #1 most tweeted about musical artist of 2014 – has released four number-one albums to-date and has starred in two films, Never Say Never (2011) and Believe (2013). In 2011, he was nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy. In 2013, Bieber received a Diamond award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) to recognize his single “Baby” as the best-selling digital song of all-time with over 9.3 million copies sold. That same year, he was also awarded a Teen Choice Award for “Choice Male Artist” and “Choice Single: Male Artist” for his song “Beauty and a Beat.” His latest album, Journals, was released last year, one song per week, with nearly all of the songs appearing on the Top 40 charts. John Frieda Repairing Oil Elixir

John Frieda Repairing Oil Elixir smooths, shines and strengthens. Reverses damage with every use.

Safe for colour-treated and chemically-treated hair.

Directions: For allover strength and smoothness dispense one pump of John Frieda Repairing Oil Elixir into palm, rub hands together and distribute evenly through lengths of wet or damp hair. To tame fly-aways and add shine, apply a few drops to dry hair, taking care and avoid your roots.

Review:

I love this product, especially now in winter when fly-aways are everywhere and most products are applied after you dried your hair with this product you apply it on damp hair and that way you not stuck with an oily finish wasting a just washed hairdo.

The first time I use it, I was completely clueless and didn't realise to brush through my hair after applying the oil, but I still had great results with no flyways, the second time I used the product I combed through my hair and got a better result and my hair felt soft an controlled yet I could easily run my fingers through my hair.

I would rate this product as a must have all year around. For winter who need fly-aways when you trying to pull off a chic look and for summer I love this product for the beach applying it to keep your natural curls in check.
