Gastby Tea

Recently I attended a bridal shower inspired by the Great Gatsby and Roaring 20's, and there was a dress code and a prize for best dressed. I was immediately trilled as I love dressing up, especially if it has to do with glamour. I visited numerous costume stores in my area and came to the realization that instead of parting with my Madiba's I will wear what I have in my closet and get my hair professionally done, while my sister opted for a wig.

The attempt to put an ensemble inspired by the 1920's was surprisingly more strenuous than I had initially imagined since I had studied the 1920's at varsity in my 2nd year of design. After hours of outfit planning and research on the internet I knew 2 things.
1. Don't wear black. Every person that popped up on search would either be in a black dress, headband and pearls or bag dress they passed as 1920's inspired fashion.
2. I was being too harsh on myself. It's meant to be fun.

I knew my outfit had to be shapeless because in the 1920's women were rebelling against the corset yet I don't own anything baggy enough to pass for a drop waist flapper dress so I went for a dress that was a loose fit according to my judgment and made myself a body chain looked through my hair accessories found the perfect headband and just like that I had my dress up outfit.

Nude Nails Review

I've been obsessed with the nude/ neutral tones for a while now.
From shoes to accessories, if it comes in nude I'll take it.It's the
new black in my colour palette. When I received a package from
Revlon that was made up of this nail vanish I was enthusiastic to
use it.

Painting my nails was a breeze. I did 3 coats as it is a very clear vanish.
I recently did intense research on Youtube on how to achieve perfect
painted nails at home. I have to say the tutorials helped me as
I did this paint job on my 1st attempted.

This Nail Vanish is called 380 ELEGANT. Not sure if the name has
changed or the retail price.

My Review:
It dried fast and was effortless to apply. The end results didn't last long
as it started chipping on the same day as I painted them. (it could be
that I am just a tad wild as I didn't  encounter this problem with the
other nail vanish that came in the same package.)

Kinoma Fun

Hello Hello Hello! Finally, I have some alone time with the laptop and I can blog. Recently I haven't blogged as much as I would of love to but that is because I didn't have access to the laptop since Zack (the brother) clings to it.

So moving on I will get on with todays look post. I am obsessed with kimonos and anything chiffon. I searched for a one similar to what I would see when I searched kimonos in the stores, but what I found was over priced pieces of fabric passed for kimonos so I am a designer I figured I just as well make my own.

The idea was to have a full length kimono with 3/4 sleeves this was my 1st attempt and I am rather surprisingly happy with the results. I went for a geometric fabric in a colour I don't have in my closet, this same fabric came in orange and pink, but I felt this shade suited my personality on the day of purchase better.

February

February is my birthday month. Yay me. I figured since I have a few days left of being 24 I would share my experiences.

For some reason I felt extra cool being 24. I felt I knew who I was as a person, I had dealt with my insecurities and I found my part to walk. I love being 24 and most of all I love the space I am in right now and I feel this is the time in my life where I'm making the best memories. I am a matured person to handle myself in an irresponsible way.

February is the shortest month and I feel so special being born in this month. My sister and I are both February babies, but share different star signs. February in South Africa is when summer had set in, in full swing and every day is a wonderful warm day and you settle in to the new year and of course it has a Valentines day for the romance lovers.

My look: I still am in love with my Converse. I prefer wearing it with a dress, maybe as the temperature drops I'll try them with pants. I love my hair atm even thou load shedding has got me good as I had to wash and wear so to say, but I think after the blue hair I'm comfortable and enjoying this "normal" brunette look I have.

Review on The Body Shop Hairbrush with Bamboo Pins

I first was came across this hair brush when I was studying at a design school in Hyde Park Corner. In my lunch breaks I would pop into The Body Shop to pick up what's new and enjoy the beautiful aromas that accompanied the beauty products. I'm totally for a plastic free lifestyle, especially in a society.

When I came across the wooden brush I didn't think a great deal of it as my 1st thoughts were that, it will hurt like a b**ch to brush through my hair as I have hair that tangles very easily. I recently began doing research into organic treatments for hair growth that is when I discovered a brush with wooden pins are great for the hair. I decided to risk it and get a wooden brush.

The brush usually is priced at RSA 95 but I manage to find it on sale.

I was not sold on the brush 100% until I used it for the 1st time, my gosh, it was soft against my scalp I enjoyed the brush strokes through my hair, it didn't pull or get tangled. It was simple, soft, refreshing and comforting. I find myself brushing my hair throughout the daytime because of the softness it leaves after brushing.

Overall, I definitely recommend this product. In my research to better healthy hair good tools are the key to success.

Loving Oneself

A big question I have is do, I love myself too much or simply enough? If you don't love yourself, you are believed to be insecure and if you love yourself a bit too much, you are considered conceited, so where is the line where you love yourself just enough?

I have a few questions to help figure this out.

1. Do you like the way you look, but realize that there certain times you don't actually look your best?
2. Do you know what are your best features and what parts need work?
3. Do you constantly battle weather to stay home and be in your own company rather than be in the company of others?

I think if you answered Yes to most or all my questions, you are fine and love yourself the right amount.

My outfit thoughts: I was inspired by boyish, natural diva glamour look for this post. I love the pearl collar on the top and feel its adds elegance to look which paired well with my lip colour. These jeans have been apart a part of my look post for a long time  as one of the 1st fashion post I did were of them. My shoes reminds me boys school shoes and the fact that they are in silver made them a whole lot better.
